Lethal Weapon 5?
Well it's very early stages and we've been here before where Mel Gibson has turned the idea of a Lethal Weapon 5 down, but it seems that the studio is trying to pull together another sequel.
With other old action series coming back for one last time, or perhaps in the case of Die Hard 4.0 (Filmstalker review) another couple of times for we may see another sequel, it seems Warner Brothers are interested in giving Lethal Weapon another shot, and why not.
The series was always pretty successful, and the pairing of Mel Gibson and Danny Glover was superb, not to mention the excellent scripting. However to date Gibson has always said no. Now though there's a serious push to try and get it made.
According to an insider that Moviehole knows, Danny Glover is not committing until he sees a strong script, and there's no word on what Gibson thinks right now.
Apparently though, Clint says that Richard Donner had a script idea ready to go a couple of years ago, and a script that he thinks could be a strong one, and at the time he was keen to give it a go. However he was very positive that Lethal Weapon is Gibson, it wouldn't work without him in it.
Would you like to see a fifth Lethal Weapon? Could you see Gibson and Glover back for another outing from retirement? I actually could. Now that Rambo, Rocky and McClane have returned and Jones is on his way, I'm thinking it could turn out rather well. I'm with Donner though, great script and for me the pair have to return otherwise it just won't be right.
