Lucky Luciano to hit the big screen?
Mob films have been a bit thin on the ground recently, but that could be about to change. The life story of Lucky Luciano is headed to the big screen, adapted from the book “The Last Testament of Lucky Luciano”.
Mob boss Luciano co-operated with the writing of the book, although he stipulated that it shouldn't be published until 10 years after he died in 1962. The film should be fairly eventful, not only did Luciano reinvent the Mafia but he had a hand in ending World War II. The news comes from the New York Post through Rope of Silicon.
I love mob films in particular The Godfather, Goodfellas and Donnie Brasco. Hopefully this one will hit the mark as well as those three. It’s to be produced by Bob DeBrino and he has eye on George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp for the role. So he’s setting his sights low then, out of that lot I’d probably go for Mark Wahlberg. Any other suggestions?
