The Thing gets Battlestar Galactica treatment

TheThing_Poster.jpgRemember that John Carpenter's The Thing was getting remade? I was horrified, until I heard this news just a few moments ago...Ronald D. Moore is going to be writing the remake of the classic horror.

The John Carpenter film is in fact a remake itself, of the 1951 film The Thing From Another World, but the Carpenter version captured a new level of terror and suspense which the original didn't.

Carpenter's version starred a superb performance from Kurt Russell, Wilford Brimley, T.K. Carter, David Clennon, Keith David and Richard A. Dysart, a cracking cast who really played well off of each other.

I loved Carpenter's The Thing so much that I really didn't think a remake was a good idea, but then the man that turned a Battlestar Galactica remake into such a successful and superb television series could really bring something special to the film don't you think?

Thanks to HorrorMovies.ca for the catch on this story, they've really started to make me feel better about the remake. Still, it's a long way off as they point out that Ronald D. Moore also has a sequel to I, Robot on the go...now there's an interesting thought, can he really turn that one around too?

Yup, Moore being behind it MIGHT make a remake of The Thing watchable.

I hope so Vic.
