Zwick picks Jamie Bell
Ed Zwick has cast Jamie Bell next to Daniel Craig and Liev Schreiber in the film Defiance. The three will play Jewish brothers who escape Nazi-occupied Poland and head into the forest to join Russian resistance fighters. We already heard about the casting of Craig, but not of Schreiber or Bell.
The story is based on a true one and marks a big role for Jamie Bell. Since his Billy Elliot debut he's been seen in smaller, more independent films such as The Chumscrubber (Filmstalker review) and most recently with Hallam Foe (Filmstalker review), however this is far from those and lands him alongside two very strong actors with Daniel Craig and Liev Schreiber. The story comes from Variety.
Bell has a lot of diversity and intensity for such a young actor, and I'd love to watch him develop into a mixture of roles. Let's hope he keeps that diversity even as the light of Hollywood turns on him.
