Goyer to direct Vampire film
David S. Goyer is to direct a film adaptation of Baltimore, or The Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire (Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com
), an illustrated novel (is that a comic book?) by Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden.
The story tells of the awakening of supreme evil on Earth, well there's an interesting tale to be told. Lord Henry Baltimore lies on a battlefield in World War I awaiting death, he is mortally wounded and those animals who feast on the dead arrive for their pickings. However with them comes a creature he has never seen the like of before, a Vampire.
The plot goes on with the vampire biting Baltimore and making him a vampire too. When he returns home he discovers his entire family are dead and his wife has also been turned, and he decides to head after the creature that has decimated his family, the Red King.
Sounds brilliant, and from the early reports the book is very strong. Both authors are going to adapt the work and David S. Goyer will direct according to Variety. If you didn't know the author Mignola was responsible for creating Hellboy.
Okay, I bet now you're even more interested.
