Justin Lin unsure of Fast and the Furious 4
Previously we saw the studio list of films they wanted to try and get filmed before the big Hollywood strike action, and in one of those slots was The Fast and the Furious 4 with Justin Lin attached as Director.
Today Justin Lin reveals that he's not actually signed up to do it as yet, although things are moving along at quite a pace. From what he says though he's keen.
When asked about The Fast and the Furious 4 story he does say that he's had a couple of years away doing his passion projects, including Finishing the Game and writing a few scripts, but he's fortunately in a place in his career that he can return to the paid day job if he needs to – which sounds a lot like the kind of gig that the Fast and the Furious is.
Coming Soon also asked him whether his name attached to the project was wishful thinking by the studio and just pushing to get as many films made before the strike as possible.
“That's definitely part of the climate...but if I do it, I'm going to have fun with it. I'm still assessing. I haven't totally signed on anything yet. People have been calling me, and I would do it for the right reason with the right people. That was my first action car movie and I feel like I'm better now. I would love to go and flex that muscle if it's appropriate or the right situation. It would take the right people to come on board for me to do it, so we'll see.”
So although it does sound like he's not actually signed up for it as yet, he is in negotiations for it, and if the studio are serious and want it out before the strike, perhaps they'll let him have a little more cash, a little more talent and a little more leeway.
