Clooney defends privacy snoopers

GeorgeClooney.jpgGeorge Clooney is defending the medical staff who were suspended from their jobs after they illegally looked at his confidential medical records.

Although he believes what they did was wrong, he hoped that the matter could be settled without suspending them, around forty staff, including doctors, have been suspended without pay.

Now you'll know that I don't like writing about the whole celebrity thing, Filmstalker is about films, not the private lives of people whose job it is to make them. However this story highlights just what the hounding of celebrity can mean.

The story from Yahoo News puts a spotlight on just how hard it must be to be a celebrity – no I'm being serious. While Clooney was in hospital getting treatment for his recent motorcycle crash when it was alleged that around forty medical staff looked at his medical records and possibly provided information to the media.

This act is a violation of federal law, so some might say that they are getting off lightly. However George Clooney, when he heard of the news, said he wouldn't want staff suspended.

“This is the first I've heard of it...And while I very much believe in a patient's right to privacy, I would hope that this could be settled without suspending medical workers.”

Personally I think they should be suspended, after all they have broken the law. Just spare a thought though for how tough that must be. He really does have absolutely no privacy, and he can't even trust medical staff who are supposedly treating him. How hard must it be to trust anyone in life?
