Eric Bana has signed to play the villain of the J.J. Abrams Star Trek film. His character will be called Nero, and that's about as much as we're being given on that subject.

He certainly is a big casting scoop for the film, and the biggest name so far next to Leonard Nimoy. The question is who else will be caught for the remaining roles, and are there actually any remaining big roles to capture?

The news comes from Variety, and really there's not much else to say. I think Eric Bana is a great choice for the film and he'll give a strong performance, but I'm curious Star Trek fans, does Nero sound like a Romulan name?
