Spyro the Dragon the film?!
What in god's name is going on? Spyro the Dragon is the next game making a big screen appearance, and I can't imagine why.
Actually I can see why this videogame would make a film adaptation, the cute factor. The studio's will be drooling over the young audience for this.
Appropriately Steve and Dan Altiere will write the script, they wrote the script for Dr. Dolittle 4, so don't expect that much. According to Variety it's also going to be 3-D and presumably all CGI too. The film will be based on the recent release of Legend of Spyro.
Spyro the Dragon is a young dragon who has to navigate his world and find dragon eggs and release the captured dragons of the realm. Your standard platform game but Spyro could fly a little, breathe fire, and barge into thing enemies.
Something that made the game particularly special was the music, created by Stewart Copeland of the Police (the band, not the service!) and the creator of the Equalizer television show theme!
Although I did originally think that this idea was scraping the bottom of the videogame barrel, I could see it really working for young kids. Mind you if they are going to do this rubbish, can't we get some decent ones? Metal Gear Solid?
