I can't believe that In the Shadow of the Moon (Filmstalker review) didn't make it to the shortlist of Documentaries for the Oscars this year. I mean what are the selection committee on to not think that that stunning film is worthy of an Oscar?

Perhaps it doesn't qualify under their convoluted rules as a documentary, lord knows that many foreign films don't match their foreign film catergory.

Anyway, that aside, here are the shortlist of documentaries from which five nominees will be selected as provided by Hollywood Elsewhere.

The five nominees will be announced on the 22nd of January, and it still seems staggering that In the Shadow of the Moon didn't make it.
