Grease remake with Simpson and Pfeiffer?
Michelle Pfeiffer looks set to return to the musical of Grease with news that there's a remake being planned of the original.
What's worse than the remake idea is that there's also talk of Jessica Simpson playing the part of Sandy. Now how can that be a good thing, and how can Pfeiffer really be considering returning under these circumstances?
The news comes from YourMovies.com.au through IESB, and it beggars belief. Michelle Pfeiffer talks a little about the possibility:
"It's a great idea and I hear they would like to get Jessica Simpson for the role of Sandy; she would be good. I would love to play the school principal. She is fun and has some great put-down lines. I think I would like the part now that I have been asked."
Michelle Pfeiffer starred in the sequel to Grease, imaginatively called Grease 2, and seeing her return to the remake would be a nice touch. However Jessica Simpson as Sandy?
What do you think, could she really pull that role off? Is she anywhere near the original Sandy? I believe the answer is clearly no. I doubt she could carry that role and would do little other than add a pretty face and a pair of breasts to the role, no offence but she's not the greatest of actresses and does rely on her figure.
I guess that it does match the idea of remaking Dirty Dancing that Hollywood has been having, but remaking such ardent classics? There's just no way the current fans could accept these surely?
