Justice League of America casting rumours
There's a few rumours about the Justice League of America casting online today, although there seems to be a big freeze on rumours coming out, they are leaking none the less and there's news online of some interesting character castings.
Superman, Flash, The Green Lantern and Talia al Ghul may well be cast, if the trusted sources are to be believed.
First up, let's look at the big one, Superman. Cinema Blend received an email from a source who wanted to remain anonymous and whose comments matched other rumours they'd received from different sources already.
It seems that Warner Brothers are set to announce the casting next week, but thanks to their scooper we can tell you that Scott Porter is set to play Superman.
If you, like me, are going “Scott who?”, well let me tell you. He's been a regular on the Friday Night Lights television series, appeared in Music & Lyrics and is set to appear on Speed Racer and Prom Night.
Josh also carries the other casting, but I just happened to click on the IESB story first which tells us that Common is set to be The Green Lantern and Teresa Palmer is going to be Talia al Ghu, the daughter of Ra’s al Ghul.
You know as much as these actors look good and I'm sure will carry the parts well, but there's part of me that still wishes they had gone all out and cast the full Justice League of America from the actors who are playing the characters in the single films right now, and that includes films that haven't been made yet such as Wonder Woman and The Flash.
Instead they've gone smaller and cheaper, and I don't mean that to sound derogatory to the actors who are chosen, but they are smaller actors and much cheaper than it would be to take on the likes of Christian Bale and Brandon Routh.
I'd have liked to have seen that film though. However, there's a new interest here, to see how they do manage this recasting and how this smaller scale film does turn out.
Update: There's another rumour just in from Batman-on-Film through Cinema Blend saying that Armie Hammer has been cast as Batman for the Justice League of America. Now the odd thing is that he's young, and looks it. Okay so he's not got a career as yet, but that fits with the cheap cast to date. The question is the age difference with the rumoured superman casting, is that a problem? Looking at the Batman mythology it doesn't seem right that the character would be in full Batman mode at this age does it?
