Renny Harlin on Mannerheim biographical film

RennyHarlin.jpgRenny Harlin is set to return to Finland for his next project, a film he has been pushing for some time now and looks set to actually start filming, Mannerheim.

The film follows the life of Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim, the Finnish military leader and politician.

Mannerheim was Finland's sixth President from 1944 to 1946 after being leader of the Finnish government forces in the civil war of 1918 and throughout World War II.

According to Variety the film is to cover the period in his life from the 1900's to the 1950's, so pretty much his entire life. It will also be the 140th anniversary of his birth in June, so timely indeed.

It'll be very interesting to see how Renny Harlin tackles this project, he's obviously got a lot of emotional investment in the film and it might just bring something unexpected from the Director.
