Clash of the Titans gains Director
Steve Norrington has signed to direct the remake of the classic Clash of the Titans, the superb Greek mythology film that featured the excellent stop motion effects of Ray Harryhausen.
The film is planned for production next year from a script that Travis Beacham wrote and Lawrence Kasdan rewrote.
Lawrence Kasdan wrote Wyatt Earp, Silverado, Return of the Jedi, Empire Strikes Back and Body Heat, while Steve Norrington last directed The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen which, while Sean Connery might love to denounce, I actually think wasn't as bad as people made out. He also directed Blade, and that's a well worthy mention.
Right now I'm in two minds about this news from Variety. You see the first half of my head is saying that this should never be made, the film is legendary, as are the effects. Effects which still hold up to this day.
Yet there's something about this line-up that has me intrigued, particularly with Norrington. I actually think that he could deliver something a little special, although he really does have to have the budget and the backing to deliver. Right now, I'm really not sure.
