Thanks Richard! :)

I only really care about Marion Cotillard winning the Best Actress in all the award giving bodies this year, as the rest are just blah (save for Blanchett of course) but Cotillard, take my word for it was just breathtaking.

I wonder how Despedida sounds like although I am not too keen that they have adapted one of Gabriel Garcia Marquez great novels.

I have yet to see American Gangster so I will reserve my comments till later. Viggo Mortensen for Best Actor? Seriously???

You don't like Viggo, Simone? Interesting. If you haven't seen it, he did a pretty amazing job in the movie even if it wasn't really a great movie.

Ben Affleck was robbed in Best Director. I don't know that he should have won because I haven't seen the other movies, but he more than earned a nomination.

Oh no Hap, I used to love him, this was during his stint as Aragorn and for some reason I seem to associate him to that role always. Remember how bad Hidalgo turned out? Maybe I am being harsh, not having seen Eastern Promises, or maybe it's just me but I just dont think he is that great an actor, unless he has improved now.

Well Affleck didn't help himself by self-banning the film from the UK.

Ooh, forgot to mention. I got an email from the Director of Jekyll the miniseries to highlight something I missed on the post:

"ACTOR (MINISERIES OR TV MOVIE)
James Nesbitt"

See that? James Nesbitt is nominated for his work in Jekyll, and quite rightly so! That show was superb and Nesbitt really nailed it with a superb performance.

Well done him, and well done Douglas.

Actually, I very much enjoyed Hidalgo, and although I can see how some would be disappointed, I wasn't. A painted horse, albeit not a Mustang, happened to be a big part of changing certain aspects of my personality as I grew up. And, there's quite a bit of American Indian blood in my veins. I don't know what tribe or how much, but I still know it's there. So it was hard not to like that movie.

Anyway, don't focus all of your attention on LoTR and later. Look earlier. He's been in tons of stuff, and you almost don't realize it because he blends into the roles so well. G.I. Jane and Young Guns II are a couple of examples that I recently saw on TV and realized during the movie that it was him.

I didn't know Affleck banned the film in the UK. What was the reason for that?
