Neeson's Taken trailer online
Liam Neeson is a great actor who has had a really varied career. On screen he's so convincing and so powerful, and when he needs to be just so natural. Even his voice casting as Aslan has been brilliant and a perfect match.
Of course he's had some poor films, but Taken doesn't appear to be one of them, and I say that after seeing the first trailer for the film online. It's a corker.
The trailer is dripping with style and mood, and it's perfectly summed up by those closing moments as Liam Neeson's character talks to the kidnappers of his daughter.
Neeson: “I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you”
Kidnapper: “Good luck”
I love the way he delivers those lines, it's chilling and totally determined.
The story unfolds perfectly in the trailer and you get everything you need from it. As First Showing say, who have the trailer [Flash] through Row Three, it feels very much like A History of Violence. It does, but there's something much darker and there's also more immediacy and risk it feels here.
Taken tells the story of a former spy whose job has cost him his family life. Now estranged he's trying to make connections back to both his wife and daughter, but while he is trying to live his life outside of the world of espionage, his daughter is kidnapped and is being forced into a slave trade.
Bryan, Liam Neeson's character, sets off to rescue his daughter, played by Maggie Grace, and kill those responsible. The captivating and hugely talented Famke Janssen plays his estranged wife.
The film is directed by Pierre Morel and written by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen who have collaborated on the The Transporter films, Kiss of the Dragon and The Fifth Element, with Kamen writing the Karate Kid series, Gladiator, and Taps. Morel has been the cinematographer on War, Unleashed and The Transporter.
So there's a great mix of talent there, and in this trailer it looks put to good use.
