The Bank Job trailer online

TheBankJob.jpgThe trailer for The Bank Job is online, and while there may be an element of gangsters, it's filmed in Britain, starring British actors and features Jason Statham, don't be getting all worked up shouting about British gangster films.

This film is on a different track to the films that people continue to incorrectly refer to as leading British gangster films, let's face it, The Long Good Friday is the king of the genre.

Let's look forward to the Genre Defining: Gangster feature and get back on track to The Bank Job trailer.

While watching it I caught a name that I was wondering what had happened to a few weeks back. Craig Fairbrass. He was on British television for a while and had his highest point in the Sylvester Stallone starrer, Cliffhanger. Then he just seemed to disappear.

Well in The Bank Job he's back, along with a host of other great British actors. Aside from Jason Statham there's Saffron Burrows, James Faulkner, David Suchet, Craig Fairbrass, Colin Salmon, and the classic Peter Bowles.

Interesting line up, and the story is even more so. It's based on the true story of the 1971 Baker Street robbery, a heist that made the crew an incredible amount of money with the thieves, and the cash, never being found.

The authorities crushed the newspaper stories and closed down anything about the events. The film explains why, suggesting that a safe deposit box contained various materials from a blackmailer, one being photos of a female member of the Royal family indulging in various sex acts. That, the film claims, is the reason that they got away, and only now are we going to see the full story.

The trailer does look good, and with all those great faces in it I'm really looking forward to it, however it doesn't do a great job of telling the story and it feels rather broken and bitty. Still, there is enough here to make you want to see the film, it's worked with me anyway.

You can see the trailer right here [QT:L] from CinemasOnline through Movie-List Forums.
