You Don't Mess with the Zohan trailer
Yes, you might be expecting me to moan and complain about the trailer for You Don't Mess with the Zohan starring Adam Sandler. It pokes fun at Israeli's just a little too much, the mumbling style of Sandler isn't great on screen, and the usual fall flat jokes are there too.
Yes, that's all true, and it was looking like base humour all the way again with some nasty digs thrown in. Then there are flashes of comedy, you know that stuff where you don't rely on body, sex or race type jokes, and I laughed.
Okay, there are only a couple of moments, but they are there, and in the end the film kind of lifted itself up again in my eyes. I was thinking I might find this one funny.
The two scenes that really did it? The terrorist phone line and the foot kicking gag, both been done before in other films, but here they have a new dash of something and just work.
Now I'm no big fan of Adam Sandler, or of the continuing trend of this type of comedy, I like my comedy a little more intelligent and observational and less base, however You Don't Mess with the Zohan looks like it might just reach out and grab me.
