Crash the television series
I remember reading some time ago that the Crash film was being made into a television series, or at least that it was being considered, and now it's confirmed that the excellent ensemble film Crash (Filmstalker review) is going to become a television series.
What's more is that we might even see Don Cheadle and other cast members appear in the series.
"It will present an opportunity to delve into many subjects, not just race relations in LA."
To me this really sounds like it's going to follow the series The Wire, and that's no bad thing. That show receives great praise, and although I couldn't really get into the first series, I have friends who are avid fans and swear by it.
To do this kind of thing again, mixing with the characters and location of Crash, could well provide the network with another big series hit.
Starz executive Stephan Shelanski, from the channel creating the series and through the BBC, said that:
"We're just going to rely on the strength of the material and the relationship that Don Cheadle and Paul Haggis had to get the original cast involved,"
Apparently the channel are talking to all the original cast members about returning to the show, even if it is for a few episodes of transition. Frankly I can't see them keeping up that cast level for long before they have to consider the salary budget!
