Day of the Dead trailer

MenaSuvari.jpgThere's a trailer online for the zombie horror Day of the Dead, yes another remake of another zombie film from George A. Romero no less. However before you turn off let me just tell you, this looks rather good.

The surprising news is that it isn't getting a theatrical release, despite the talents of Steve Miner being the camera, Jeffrey Reddick behind the keyboard, and the acting talents of Mena Suvari, Ving Rhames and a bevy of younger talent such as Christa Campbell, Nick Cannon and AnnaLynne McCord.

The story for the new Day of the Dead is pretty simple, the zombie infestation begins and a group of survivors head to an underground military complex to try and stay alive.

The trailer comes through AITH who share the belief that it shouldn't just be going straight to video, I mean if Uwe Boll can do it...Do you think it deserves a theatrical outing, or do the dead finally belong in the ground?

That confused me there..as Ving Rhames was also in the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead. So this is Day of the Dead a remake of the 3rd part of Romero's movies but according to the writer it has no relation to Dawn of the Dead, maybe Ving just really likes fighting zombies?

The effects/zombie makeup didn't look as good as they did in the dawn of the dead/land of the dead remakes and the story didn't come across as that exciting in the trailer. Uh oh i just noticed it's directed by the guy who did Halloween H20 and that really wasn't good.

I'm getting a bit tired of people remaking all these zombie films, lets try and be original like we saw in 28 days later.

I'm not sure if it deserves a theatrical release unless a) it's really good or b) it's halloween. I'll probably rent it when it comes out.

Should have just done a better job, linked it into the Dawn remake and pumped it up and released it in the cinema. That I would watch.
This is nothing more than a higher quality tv movie gone straight to video by the look it it (especially the acting going by the trailer).

I've seen better in shows like Buffy.
