Filmstalker's Week 13th to 20th January

Newspapers.jpgIt's weekly roundup time again, the last seven days at Filmstalker in one handy post. Here you'll find reviews, trailers and a news roundup.

Ever feel slightly duped by a film's marketing campaign? Well read Richard's new feature here, which looks at the sometimes misleading hype surrounding films before their release.

Richard reviewed the DVD of Hostel: Part II (Unrated/Unseen Edition).

He also reviewed The Savages, starring Philip Seymour Hoffman and Laura Linney, and gave it 5 stars. High praise indeed.

The trailer for Postal by Uwe Boll appeared, the film inspired by the videogame of the same name.

I hoped we'd seen the back of Sex and the City and then they went and made a film. Dammit. You can see the trailer above.

Stephen Chow's CJ7 trailer failed to impress me but take a look and see what you think.

You can also watch the trailer for The Tourist aka The List. This one stars Ewan McGregor, Hugh Jackman and Michelle Williams. Although it is dubbed in Russian, so enjoy. Or should that be насладитесь.

The trailer for Doomsday looked awesome, looking forward to that one.

The remake of George A Romero's Day of the Dead also has a trailer. I was pleasantly surprised by Zack Snyder's remake of Dawn of the Dead. However I'm not too sure about this one.

We also saw a trailer for Life Before Her Eyes, which stars Uma Thurman and Evan Rachel Wood.

And finally we have a reminder that Katie Holmes is actually an actress, and not just Mrs Tom Cruise. She is in Mad Money with Diane Keaton, and Queen Latifah.

The Golden Globe winners were announced, without the usual fanfare due to the writers strike.

Colin Hanks and Jeff Daniels may be the next additions to Steven Spielberg's Chicago 7.

You may have to make two trips to the cinema to see the last Harry Potter book adaptation, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Josh Brolin spoke out about the reaction to the ending of No Country for Old Men. It would seem that if you didn't like it, you actually did. I'm going the use that reasoning next time I have to show someone at work a video I made for them....

Those people who bought Blu-ray players early on may find themselves unable to enjoy some features that those with more up to date players can.

It seems Harry Potter has not cast his spell over the Vatican, who think that the world of the young wizard is immoral. Jeez, let's hope they never see Showgirls.

The Justice League of America film is on hold for the time being, due to a mixture of funding problems and the writers strike.

We got a sneek peak at the monster from the film Cloverfield, and he looks pretty mean.

The new Star Trek teaser made it's way online, could we be in for a Cloverfield sized marketing campaign?

And finally back to Cloverfield. There is a secret message hidden in the end of Cloverfield. Beware of slight spoilers in the story. Man this lot need to get their marketing act together, it's like they are not even trying...
