Philip Seymour Hoffman has a Supporting Actor nomination though for Charlie Wilson's War, which has no other nominations in the main categories. Tim Burton is also missing from the Best Director category and Sweeney Todd is no where to be seen in Best Film.

So what do you think? Anyone in there that you don't think should be, anyone not in there that deserves to be. Have any of your favourite films been overlooked?

BEST DIRECTOR: Jason Reitman = RIDICULOUS.

Fincher
Dominik
Herzog
Wright
Penn
R. Scott
Greengrass
Cronenberg

Unfortunately there are a staggering number of films on that list which I am yet to see, although there's a good representation for the Irish this year with nominations for Daniel Day Lewis (Best Actor - There Will Be Blood), Saoirse Ronan (Supporting Actress - Atonement), and Glen Hansard (Original Song - Once).

I hear you Andrew and totally agree.

I do like the foreign films category nominees.

Of the 5 Best Picture nominees I have only seen Atonement & Michael Clayton and my reaction was, REALLY? Best Picture?

I don't really know if I shuold take this year's nomination seriously. I like that there's love for Miss Cotillard but it looks like Julie Christie might get it.

As for the Foreign Language films nominated, I have not seen any of them but will definitely have a look at 2 or 3!
