Oscar Nominations announced
The nominations for this years Oscars have been announced in Los Angeles. The exact format of the awards is still up in the air due to the writers strike, but we have the nominees at least. The main categories are covered below.

So there we go. Cate Blanchett has two nominations for her roles as Elizabeth and Bob Dylan. No room for James McAvoy or Keira Knightly for their performances in Atonement. And no nomination for Denzel Washington for American Gangster. Philip Seymour Hoffman has a Supporting Actor nomination though for Charlie Wilson's War, which has no other nominations in the main categories. Tim Burton is also missing from the Best Director category and Sweeney Todd is no where to be seen in Best Film.
