Stalked: Theron on The Road and West for G.I. Joe?

CharlizeTheron.jpgCharlize Theron joins Viggo Mortensen in the adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's The Road and Dominic West is being rumoured as the latest to join the rubbery production of G.I. Joe.

Charlize Theron has signed to appear with Viggo Mortensen in the film adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's novel The Road (Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com). The film follows a man and his son as the head off to cross the country after a nuclear explosion has hit caused widespread chaos and people have been turned into zombie like creatures.

Theron is set to play his wife in what appears to be mainly flashbacks in the screenplay by Joe Penhall and from Director John Hillcoat according to Variety.

According to rumour through sources from Latino Review, Dominic West from 300, Hannibal Rising and The Wire is set to appear in G.I. Joe as Destro, the power behind the weapons manufacturer in the story, Military Armaments Research System.

Destro is a rich man, made rich by war which he believes is the most natural and best way for man to advance. He'll choose whichever side suits him the best, profit and business wise, and is totally divided with his loyalties.

Dear me, it still doesn't strike me as anything but cartoonish and rubber action figures.

Hey Rich,

you should kinda love this. Firstly, Destro is a Scottish arms dealer. So if they do the movie any respect, they should show Destro's family castle in the Highlands.

Only thing is West is British - oh well, they all can't be winners.

Oh superb, now that would be a cool role!!

Yeah, I think West can carry a good Scottish accent though, he does look the part.

I'm just not convinced with a G.I. Joe film...they are action figures (dolls) after all!
