BAFTA Winners announced

BAFTA.jpgThe winners of this years BAFTA's have been announced and there are some changes to the normal run of the awards ceremonies this year, but nothing too surprising I think, and perhaps this is a more balanced list than the rest we've been seeing.

Atonement wasn't a big a winner as I thought it would be, instead La Vie en Rose seems to have scooped a number of awards.

Here's the full list from Variety:

THE ORANGE RISING STAR AWARD (voted for by the public)
Shia Labeouf

Anything leap out at you? I'm personally happy that Atonement took Best Film and not No Country for Old Men (Filmstalker review), and it's a good call for Shia Labeouf there at the end, let's hope he doesn't rely on blockbusters for all his roles.

Isn't it interesting that Atonement, the only British film that was nominated for best Picture won it? Don't get me wrong it was a great movie but I don't think it was as good as No Country For Old Men and although I'm not seeing it till Thursday probably not as good as There Will Be blood. Of course I'm willing to bet that No Country For Old Men is going to win the Academy Award for Best Film. Great to see Marion Cotillard win for Best Actress, Diablo Cody for Original Screenplay and Daniel Day Lewis for Actor.

Errata: THE LIVES OF OTHERS – Quirin Berg/Max Wiedemann/Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck got Best Non-English film according to:

http://www.bafta.org/awards/film/film-awards-nominees-in-2008,224,BA.html

I am so pleased that Cotillard won!

Quite agree with Firebug here, I have seen both films and between No Country for Old Men and Atonement, I think No Country for Old Men is definitely a much better film.

Ram, well done on that, it helps that you also just saw the film recently eh?

The Lives of Others is a cracking, brilliant film, you seen that yet Rich?

Oh dear, I copied that from Variety, unlike them to make such a mistake...Mmmm.

I haven't seen Lives of Others as yet, it's on my list though!!

Well then, I can't wait to read your review of it, I am quite sure you will love it.
