Fritz Lang remake starring Michael Douglas
Beyond a Reasonable Doubt is a remake of Frtiz Lang's classic film noir which is set to be directed by Peter Hyams and is already set to star Michael Douglas, Amber Tamblyn and Jesse Metcalfe.
It's an interesting cast, and another slightly odd but very strong role for Michael Douglas who seems to be returning to his younger years in acting terms. Then there's the interesting sounding plot.
Jesse Metcalfe will play a journalist who is trying to expose a corrupt District Attorney who is played by Michael Douglas. To do this he's stupidly set himself up as a suspect in a murder but his plan backfires on him when the DA realises what's going on and destroys all the evidence that would prove his innocence, putting the journalist in an impossible situation.
That plot blurb from The Hollywood Reporter sounds really good, although initially it's a bit contrived, it does seem like a fantastic set-up, and Douglas can play bad really, really well.
Interestingly Peter Hyams directed the great conspiracy thriller The Star Chamber which also starred Douglas and is looking at a remake.
What is really exciting for me is that Hyams has delivered so many strong films, including Capricorn One, Outland, Narrow Margin and The Presidio.
