Get Smart trailer improves...slightly

GetSmart.jpgI'm still not sold on this Get Smart film, although the new trailer that's hit the internet has some redeeming features, some of the writing still falls flat.

However, and let's be fair about this, there are some pretty amusing moments over the first trailer, and the production values look really high.

The forces of KAOS have tipped the balance of power in their favour, while CONTROL is losing theirs. While KAOS has been exposing and killing CONTROL's agents they have been building their ingenious plan to do whatever those dastardly bad guys do.

With CONTROL's agents exposed and under fear of assassination, they pick on their last remaining non-agent to head out into the real world. Steve Carrell plays Agent 86 who is teamed up with Agent 99 to head out and fight against KAOS. Of course Agent 86 is a complete failure and it's Anne Hathaway's Agent 99 who keeps saving the day.

Get Smart is adapted from the television series devised by Mel Brooks that enjoyed a long run in the U.S. and starred Don Adams in the lead role.

The new trailer looks better than the last one which really did have such flat joke moments it was painful. Now though there are some funny moments like Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock, stapling a memo to someone's head, or the closing scene of the woman in the car shouting at her kid.

Add to that the fact that the production looks like it has pretty strong values to it and there might just be a good film in there. Still, there are a couple of slap in the face moments which just don't work for me, very old jokes that just aren't spot on in the timing.

You can see the new trailer over at Apple Trailers in high definition [QT:480p:720p:1080p] and in standard sizes [QT:iPod:S:M:L].
