There's so much disinformation about this film I'm really not sure what to think, but images on the Interflab for the past few days are revealing that some early rumours were right, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is about aliens.

Well, it would seem the crystal skulls are at least, and with sites receiving lawyers letters to take photos of the crystal skulls down, the early reports might be true...mind you, so might be the ones of a McGuffin in the story, and this might be it.

It's all speculation at the moment, but shots of the crystal skull taken on set can be found all across the internet, and publicity shots of what might be a keyring version of the skull have been captured from foreign lands. You can see the keyring image over at Latino Review, although I'm sure I've seen it elsewhere last week.

So the crystal skull could be an alien one, and that's something that we heard about before when the rumours came out about Indy going to Area 51 and finding that old crate too.

Then there was that McGuffin that George Lucas was talking about, and he said:

"I discovered a McGuffin...I told the guys about it and they were a little dubious about it, but it's the best one we've ever found... Unfortunately, it was a little too 'connected' for the others. They were afraid of what the critics would think. They said, "Can't we do it with a different McGuffin? Can't we do this?" and I said "No". So we pottered around with that for a couple of years. And then Harrison really wanted to do it and Steve said, "Okay". I said, "We'll have to go back to that original MacGuffin and take out the offending parts of it and we'll still use that area of the supernatural do deal with it."

So is Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull going to be about aliens or is this part the McGuffin to string us along and it's really all about the fighting the baddies again? After all the they've really all had their own McGuffin - and I don't mean something on a roll in a fast food joint!

The skull could just be one of the things that Indy has to save from the baddies and in the process risk his own life, perhaps we'll see nothing more than that and the mere mention of what it could really be? We can only hope so, because if Lucas has ruined this franchise as well, I doubt he would be forgiven.
