Wes Craven returns with 25/8

WesCraven.jpgWes Craven has returned to our screens with remakes galore, and writing the screenplay for Pulse as well as writing and directing a Paris, je t'aime (Filmstalker review) segment, Red Eye and Cursed. However he's still not been hitting the highs of Elm Street.

News came through yesterday though that he's directing a thriller-horror film from an original script he wrote, and that it's been greenlit by Rogue Pictures.

The news is certainly good for horror fans, although Wes Craven is quick to point out that this is more thriller than horror.

“It's more a thriller than slasher film, and revolves around a young kid with a very dark past involving his family and his father”

The comment comes through Variety. I'm not sure if he will be feeling some degree of pressure from the audience that love his previous work to produce something of equal strength, but one thing is for sure, he's not involved in the Nightmare on Elm Street remake, something I'm glad of.

There's not that much to go on for this new film entitled 25/8 as yet, but it does bode well. You know I totally missed Red Eye, and the fact that he directed it, and as for writing the Pulse screenplay, I missed that too.
