Filmstalker's Week 3rd to 9th March
Time for the weekly roundup from Filmstalker.
This week there are plenty of opportunities for you to win a prize in three competitions. Also there is Richard's review of The Boss of It All (Direktøren for det hele), and a look at the trailer. Other trailers include Wanted, Righteous Kill and Speed Racer. There is also a news roundup including an alternative ending to I Am Legend.
You still have time to vote for the categories you would like to see in the Filmstalker Hotdog Awards.
You can vent your spleen about anything film related in your own Filmstalker feature, and potentially win a prize.
Time is running out to vote for your favourite Family Guy competition winner, better get your votes in before Richard calls time on the competition.
And you can also win a copy of the late Theo Van Gogh's Sixth of May.
Richard reviewed The Boss of It All (Direktøren for det hele) from Lars von Trier.
You've read the review now you can watch the trailer for The Boss of It All (Direktøren for det hele). There is also an extract of an interview included in the post with Lars von Trier.
Meet Bill stars Aaron Eckhart, Elizabeth Banks, Timothy Olyphant and Jessica Alba. A man finds out his wife is cheating on him and a couple of young interns try and help him get her back.
Red Baron tells the story of one of the best German WWI fighter pilots, he finds his commitment to the war challenged when he falls for a nurse. It's in German but you can get the idea, and the flying sequences look great.
There is also a new trailer for Flawless starring Michael Caine Demi Moore.
Wanted has a trailer in HD. Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy star in the comic book adaptation. It would seem they have watered the original story down, but I guess until we've seen the film we won't know just how good it is.
You can also see the teaser trailer for Tropic Thunder. Not sure about this one, Ben Stiller hasn't entertained me since Zoolander, and that had more to do with my obsession with America's Next Top Model.
We get to see Robert De Niro and Al Pacino together in Righteous Kill. The trailer looks good but I did prefer them in Heat when they were on opposing sides. However it also stars one of my favourite actors John Leguizamo as well, sweet.
And finally we have not one but two trailers for the Wachowski Brothers film, Speed Racer.
You have the opportunity to be at one of the premiere screenings of Martin Scorsese's documentary of The Rolling Stones, Shine a Light.
Sky TV is paying to ensure that some classic British films will be preserved in HD. Let's hope none of the Carry On films are included.
Jason Statham could well be playing The Equalizer in the film version of the TV show.
We got some more behind the scenes information on James Cameron's Avatar.
Bob Marley is to get the biographical film treatment, courtesy of the Weinstein Company. The film is based on the book by his wife Rita Marley. It looks like it will be more about his life through her eyes, I'd prefer to see a film about his whole life rather than a section of it.
Didn't like the ending to I Am Legend? Well now you can watch an alternative one.
We heard the news that Patrick Swayze is suffering from cancer.
We also got a look at the characters in the Watchmen film.
Who says Hollywood is unoriginal. With one NASCAR film on the way already, another one is being lined up. The second however reminds me a bit too much of Days of Thunder...
Microsoft are begrudgingly making moves to incorporate Blu-ray into their products.
The Descent 2 script has been reviewed and you can read the details. It sounds like a typical sequel to me with nothing new added in. I thought the original was quite good but this sounds like more of the same.
And last but by no means least, it is Filmstalker's 2nd birthday. Congratulations to Richard! Read on and you can suggest anything you would like to see in the coming year on Filmstalker.
