Inside Man sequel still on

InsideMan.jpgBack in November of 2006 we heard that Spike Lee was planning a sequel to Inside Man starring Clive Owen, Denzel Washington, and a superbly delicious character from Jodie Foster. Well that was some time ago and nothing has really been heard until now.

Lee was cornered again about the sequel and he said that it's still on, and a script is being worked on.

Caught at the Behind the Lens awards ceremony in Beverly Hills by Hollyscoop through Cinema Blend, and claiming the year and a half old exclusive, Spike Lee apparently said that the film was being written, that it'll most likely arrive in cinemas in 2010, and Clive Owen is already signed up for the feature.

There's nothing else much to say about it, Spike Lee

Back in 2006 we heard that Lee and Brian Grazer were developing the sequel together, but it wasn't clear if a deal had been signed for Lee to direct or not, something that seems pretty certain considering the box office success of the original.

While I liked most of Inside Man (Filmstalker review), there are still several flaws with the film, so perhaps there is room for a sequel, but story wise where would it go? Would it just repeat what we've already seen, because let's face it, that's what the title suggests and we've already seen the surprise moment in the first film.

I'm not sure where it would go, but Russell Gewirtz probably is. He's the writer of the first who is busy at work on the sequel apparently, but I bet he's got his work cut out for him doing something new and fresh on that original idea which has already been played out.

If a person can tell me the idea in twenty-five words or less, it's going to make a pretty good movie.
