My Sassy Girl remake trailer online
The trailer for the American remake of My Sassy Girl has arrived online, the film starring Elisha Cuthbert and Jesse Bradford and directed by Yann Samuell.
The original Yeopgijeogin geunyeo Korean film was made in 2001 by Jae-young Kwak and is based on the true stories of a man who manages to love a woman despite her erratic and embarrassing behaviour.
I've never seen the original film, but here's the full plot summary from IMDB:
“Based on a series of true stories posted by Ho-sik Kim on the Internet describing his relationship with his girlfriend. These were later transformed into a best-selling book and the movie follows the book closely. It describes the meeting of Kyun-woo (Cha) and an unnamed girl. Kyun-woo is shamed into assisting the girl because the other passengers mistakenly think she is his girlfriend. Once he helps her, Kyun-woo develops a deep sense of responsibility for her which enables him to tolerate (somehow) the girls abuses.”
Now the trailer for this new version looks remarkably similar, and you can see it right here from YouTube through AICN.
What do you think? I'd really be interested to hear from someone who has seen the original Yeopgijeogin geunyeo and can comment on how the two feel.
Looking at My Sassy Girl as a stand alone film it looks an interesting film, and does seem rather complex in the relationship between the two leads, although I did feel it wavered at the end, there's something that was drawing me to the story in the first half.
