New Muppets film

Muppets-Waldorf-Statler.jpgThere's going to be a new Muppets film written and directed by the talent behind Forgetting Sarah Marshall, writer Jason Segel and writer/director Nick Stoller.

Although there's nothing about the pitch online, it seems that the idea was born out of the segent in Forgetting Sarah Marshall where he writes a musical performed by puppets made by the Henson company.

While he was doing this he had the idea to pitch his idea for a Muppet film and managed to get the time in front of the right Henson people, and the rest will undoubtedly be Muppet history.

Now the duo are set to create the new Muppet adventure.

I'm not so sure this is such a great idea, but one thing is clear, the Muppets will be growing up all of a sudden and there's likely to be a bit more of an edge to them. They're going to be dragged into a more modern, American world of humour whether they like it or not. Expect slapstick body function humour galore.

Are Nick Stoller and Jason Segel treading on hallowed ground, entering somewhere that they really don't fit into?
