Ratner to direct young Blade Runner?

BrettRatner.jpgBrett Ratner is to direct the comic adaptation Harbringer originally created by Jim Shooter, the story has been described as a young Blade Runner.

The story looks at Harbringers, people with powers that need another to mentor them and unlock them, these people are called Omega Harbringers.

Pete Stanchek is a teenager - surprising eh? - who is trained by an Omega Harbringer who uses his powers for his own material gain. Stanchek then finds himself fighting against his Omega and trying to bring him down. Sounds like familiar ground to me.

According to the Variety article Brett Ratner is looking to develop a superhero franchise from scratch and this looks like it could be it.

Perhaps it will be better than X-Men: The Last Stand (Filmstalker review)?
