Gary Oldman is negotiating for a thriller called Rain Fall...
Gary Oldman is in negotiations to join Rain Fall a thriller set in Japan adapted from the novel by Barry Eisler of the same name (Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com
/ Play.com).
The story is part of a series about a Japanese-American man called a konketsu, or half-breed, completed his tour in the U.S. Special Forces and became a hired assassin. On a simple job in Tokyo he assassinates a man who certain people are after, and they turn their attentions towards him. Now he has two ex-friends on his tail who work for the local police and the CIA, and they both want a disc that the man had, a disc that his daughter may know the whereabouts of, and hasn't that assassin just gone and fallen for the daughter too?
Well it does sound a little contrived to be honest, but perhaps director Max Mannix will bring something unique and powerful to the screen. The story comes from Variety.
Paul Giamatti is joining the already big name cast of Duplicity...
Paul Giamatti is joining Julia Roberts, Clive Owen and Tom Wilkinson in the film Duplicity from writer and director Tony Gilroy. Billy Bob Thornton is also in talks to star.
According to Variety Giamatti will play an industrialist who is fighting against a rival company leader played by Tom Wilkinson. Julia Roberts and Clive Owen are two spies who are now working for the separate companies on opposite sides but are having a secret love affair.
More names join the Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock starrer The Proposal...
Malin Akerman, Mary Steenburgen, Craig T. Nelson and Aasif Mandvi have joined the cast of the romantic comedy The Proposal starring Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock.
Anne Fletcher is directing and Peter Chiarelli wrote the script about a publishing executive, played by Bullock, who forces her assistant, played by Reynolds, to marry her so she can avoid deportation to Canada. The story comes from The Hollywood Reporter.
Oh dear lord Sandra, what happened to that blistering performance in Crash (Filmstalker review)?
The A-Team gets a release date and nothing much else...
No cast but The A-Team now has a release date. Let's hope they can make it. John Singleton is lined up as the director with Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, who wrote Wanted and 3:10 to Yuma, as the writers who are bringing the eighties television series to life and bringing the ex-Special Forces soldiers as good-buy guns for hire to the big screen.
Here's hoping Hannibal Smith, Face, B.A. And Murdock make the Variety announced June 12th, 2009 date. That's six days, three months and five years of when I first wrote about the adaptation, my first film article on the Internet.
