Is 50 Cent becoming a serious actor?

50Cent.jpgIt certainly seems like Curtis Jackson, aka 50 Cent, is stretching further and further into his acting career has news arrives that he’s negotiating for a film called Spectacular Regret starring Danny Huston, John Ortiz and Kelli Garner.

This marks another notable cast film for 50 Cent as he’s already starred in Righteous Kill, Microwave Park and is lined up for The Dance.

He’s co-starred and is co-starring with various names through those films including Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Nicolas Cage, Donnie Wahlberg, Donnie Wahlberg, Carla Gugino and John Leguizamo.

He’s got to be doing something right, or is he just being hired for his star potential, the draw of the name? Has anyone actually seen him act and can comment on his performance, because I haven’t and can’t really comment.

I’ve always thought that there’s not a great stretch for big name acts such as Curtis Jackson aka 50 Cent to make it through to acting, after all they are playing a part on stage and in their video’s all the time. Sure it’s not to the level of professional actors, but they have a strong start. It shouldn’t be hard to stretch that further.

Joshua Leonard is the man behind the film which is written and directed by him. He’s making his directorial debut and is more known for his acting, particularly as a cameraman in The Blair Witch Project.

The film will see Jackson play a death row inmate who is about to be executed and as a result is being shown on television and is becoming a bit of a celebrity. It ties in four other Los Angeles characters who are struggling to overcome events according to Variety
, events that are probably instigated or related to the inmate.
