Joon-ho talks Host sequel and remake
Bong Joon-Ho, the creator and director of the original The Host (Gwoemul) (Filmstalker review) has been talking online about his vision of cinema, his adaptation of Le Transperceneige, playing The Host in Cannes, but above all he talks about the sequel and US remakes of his original Host film.
Although the interview is quite short, it is interesting hearing his view of both the remake and sequel.
Bong Joon-Ho freely admits that he was more than happy for the production companies to take the film to remake and make a sequel from his film.
He also reveals that he's heard some unofficial news about the U.S. remake that they have chosen a director, writer and producer, although when he's asked about names he says:
"I have nothing to do with it, I don't care"
Although not in a negative way, he does say he's happy either way it works out, if it's good or bad his original film remains and anything after it can only serve his in a positive light.
