Stalked: Danny DeVito, Shia LaBeouf, Zack Snyder, The Damned, Truecrimes

Danny DeVito and Kristen Bell are starring in a romantic comedy together...

Shia LaBeouf has joined a thriller called Dark Fields...

Zack Snyder is to try directing a children's animated film...

The Damned is a comic mixing L.A. Gangs and the supernatural and is set for a film adaptation...

Los Cronocrimenes is to be remade as Truecrimes...

Danny DeVito is to star with Kristen Bell in a Disney comedy called When in Rome. From Yahoo News the story tells of a woman who steals coins from a fountain in Rome and the owner of the each of the coins falls madly in love with her and pursues her heart. The rest of the cast features Will Arnett, Josh Duhamel, Jon Heder, Anjelica Huston and Dax Shepard.

Filmstalker: Sounds fun, and something a little edgier than we'd expect from Disney, of course that could well change the nearer the film comes to completion.

Shia LaBeouf is to star in Dark Fields which is a new thriller to be directed by Neil Burger who directed The Illusionist, with the story being based on Alan Glynn's 2002 novel The Dark Fields (Play.com / Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com) which tells of a man who comes into possession of a pill that makes the person who digests it incredibly intelligent, according to Variety.

Filmstalker: As much as this might sound like a fun comedy, it isn't being pitched that way, a dark thriller it seems, something which LaBeouf is great at and will make a strong contrast against his very recognisable Indy outing.

Zack Snyder is to direct the film Guardians of Ga'Hoole. Surprisingly this a children's fantasy and an animated film being based upon the books by Kathryn Lasky (Play.com / Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com). The film takes place in the Forest of Tyto, where Barn Owls live in peace until their kingdom is threatened by an evil that could destroy their home according to Variety.

Filmstalker: This does make an interesting change for Snyder, although it's not really that different is it? He's still sticking to stylised reality and the only real change will be less violence and blood!

David DiGillio will adapt the graphic novel The Damned (Play.com / Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com) for DreamWorks according to Variety. The story follows an L.A. detective who finds out that a new gang has arrived in the city, except these guys have ties to the supernatural.

Filmstalker: Sounds an interesting story, and the mix of gangs and supernatural might give an interesting edge.

Timothy J. Sexton, who wrote Children of Men and Logan's Run is adapting Nacho Vigalondo's Spanish-language film Los Cronocrimenes as Timecrimes. The story is described by The Hollywood Reporter as a noir type film where a man travels back in time by about half an house in order to prevent a serious crime.

Filmstalker: Another foreign film remake, I wonder if this will be scene by scene?
