City of Ember trailer online
The high definition trailer for City of Ember has arrived online and at first I thought I was watching Bioshock the trailer, it certainly has a similar feel, but then perhaps the novel from which the film was adapted has that same feel.
The original story comes from the Jeanne DuPrau novel called The City of Ember which tells the story of a city which is built underground to protect the human race.
The builders who create the city leave instructions in a sealed box that will automatically open after two hundred and twenty years, when they believe it will be safe to leave the city. The box is handed between mayors of the city who don't know what it is for but keep it safe anyway, and when the seventh mayor fails to force it open it is lost.
Time passes as does the deadline, and the people are struggling to keep the generator, which supplies all the power to the city, alive. Soon the city will run out of power and will plunge into darkness.
Two friends, Doon and Lina, discover a clue to something lost, and slowly the uncover the secret of the city and try to save Ember from themselves, and from the growing darkness.
You can see the trailer over at Apple Trailers [iPod:S:M:L:480p:720p:1080p] and it shows that it features an interesting cast from Tim Robbins and Martin Landau to Bill Murray and Mackenzie Crook.
I'm really not sure what to make of the film, it does have a children's feel to it, and not just for the child actors, but then it does seem to have a little darkness and tension to it. Anyone who has read the novel comment on the trailer?
