No no no no no. Plans are afoot for a sequel to Donnie Darko. The great film from Richard Kelly is to have a successor directed by Chris Fisher.

The unbelievable (yet totally believable) news of a Donnie Darko sequel, comes from Screen Daily, through Empire. It will take place 7 years after the first and concentrate on Donnie's younger sister Samantha and her best friend. During a road trip they experience visions much like Donnie in the first.

Chris Fisher will direct, and Daveigh Chase will reprise her role from the original as Donnie's younger sibling. I hate to be cynical but I have a bad feeling in my gut about this one, especially as Richard Kelly will not be involved.
