Guillermo del Toro on Hater and The Hobbit cast

GuillermodelToro.jpgGuillermo del Toro is a busy man. Not only does he have The Hobbit on the go, but he's also been talking about his adaptation of Hater.

We already know thatGuillermo del Toro will co-produce an adaptation of the novel Hater with Mark Johnson. The novel is by David Moody, and according to Variety is about:

...an epidemic of random violence in which ordinary people strike lethally without warning or remorse.

However as Del Toro is busy with The Hobbit he will not be directing, but will still be involved:

I'll carry my weight on the creative side, in choosing elements and storyboarding, but it will be up to Mark and the director we choose to execute the day to day. The Hobbit is a monumental task, and I don't want to do anything that detracts from my attention to that.

On The Hobbit he says that preliminary talks have begun with three stars of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, whose characters will appear in The Hobbit. They are Viggo Mortensen , Ian McKellen and Andy Serkis. He had this to say about the actors crossing over:

We will all be involved in the script in some fashion but the exact definition is about a week away. I am all for keeping the actors who originated the parts, as much as availability and their willingness will allow.

Well Ian McKellen has already stated his willingness, so let's hope that it's all just formalities for the three of them.
