Harrison Ford on Jack Ryan return
Recently there has been talk of Harrison Ford re visiting the Jack Ryan character, following his return to Indiana Jones. First it was just a rumour and then we heard that it was Mace Neufeld who was pushing for his return. The studio Paramount though was unmoved, and wanted to stick with a reboot with a younger star.
Well now we've heard from the man himself on what he thinks about playing Jack Ryan again. Turns out he's not dead set against the idea.
Harrison Ford was talking to The Sun through Moviehole, and he seems open to the thought.
That's a character that I think you could revisit acknowledging the passage of time and his increasing age. It wasn't age dependent; that character and his experiences were chockablock full of recipes for good engaging movies, so that's a character I wouldn't mind revisiting.
Given that Jack Ryan ages in the books it is conceivable that Ford could take the role on again. He also confirmed why he didn't star in The Sum of All Fears.
The Ryan films, the Tom Clancy films were I thought worth re-exploring again but I wasn’t a huge fan of the book on which the last one was based. I thought it was more out of date than the others so I think they made a cracking good shot at it and I think Ben Affleck is a very very talented [actor].
So the Mace Neufeld, the producer of the original films is up for it, Harrison Ford seems approachable. Could it happen after all?
