Bruce Willis in Kane & Lynch?
Remember when Bruce Willis said no more action films and along came Hostage (Filmstalker review)? Then Die Hard 4.0 (Filmstalker review)? Well it looks like he still hasn't given up on the action genre, and quite frankly he shouldn't.
Now he's in negotiations to star in Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, the adaptation of the videogame which sees a mercenary coerced into joining forces with a schizophrenic killer in order to break out of jail and retrieve a stolen microchip, or some such excuse for bags of action and violence.
Oh, and if you thought I was about to lambast that idea, don't be daft, I think it's cracking. What's even better is the idea that Bruce Willis is going to play the role of the mercenary, Adam Kane Marcus.
According to the story from Variety through Coming Soon there's no one lined up to play the other lead role as yet, but the director is to be Simon Crane. It's his first time outing as director after serving as second unit and assistant director on Jumper (Filmstalker review), Stardust (Filmstalker review), Mr & Mrs Smith (Filmstalker review), X-Men: The Last Stand (Filmstalker review) and plenty more action films.
Okay, so the directing side looks like it's going to be action heavy and there's not much else we can really say about it at the moment considering that he's a first time director. As for the writer Kyle Ward, well he's only written and produced a short film before now, althought he is working on a number of scripts. That's good news for Ward since the rumour was that there were two different scripts in development and the best one was to be selected.
So another videogame adaptation, and an interesting one that could match Bruce Willis well, if you don't think he's past it of course. The question would be who would star alongside him, and would this first time team manage to bring something interesting to this standard videogame?
