Elegy trailer online
The trailer for Elegy, the film based on Philip Roth's Pulitzer Prize-winning short novel The Dying Animal, has arrived online. Starring Ben Kingsley, Penélope Cruz, Dennis Hopper, Patricia Clarkson, and Peter Sarsgaard, the film is packing a lot of talent, and I'm rather excited to be getting to see it at the Edinburgh International Film Festival this year.
The film tells the story of an older teacher who has been avoiding commitment for so long, falling in love with a much younger woman, one of his students in fact, and how the relationship awakes feelings that he had kept long bottled up through his previous relationships.
From the trailer, which doesn't feature Cruz naked - something which seems to have been the basis of the early film hype - the film looks good, and promises some strong turns from the actors involved. I have to admit even though the trailer doesn't promise that much in terms of story, indeed nothing that hasn't been seen before, I am drawn to it by the actors and performances alone.
Have a look and see what you think of Elegy, do the actors and performances make up for the trailer that shows us nothing new?
The trailer appears on YouTube through AceShowbiz.
