RocknRolla trailer online

GerardButler.jpgThe trailer for Guy Ritchie's RocknRolla has finally appeared online, and it's really a trailer of two halves. There are a couple of cool moments though, there's the incredibly fit Gerard Butler showing off his six pack, and later tied to a bed with a gag in his mouth - ladies! - and Thandie Newton licking some white yoghurt like substance off of her finger rather seductively.

Yes those are the high points, as well as the appearance of big names galore and some really cool titles. Yet I have to say, that first half looks and feels like his two London gangster films that came before, however there's something different this time.

There's certainly a different feel to the last half, that's post tied Butler and finger lickin' Newton, and it does appeal a little bit. I'm just scared it's more of the same with different names, and there are a lot of bits that make you feel just that.

Oh, I almost forgot, Guy Ritchie is obviously having a real go at certain foreign football managers, and I suspect they will be none too pleased.

Have a look and see what you think, I'm less excited about this and more looking forward to his Gamekeeper film, but perhaps there will be something to be had from this huge cast list including Gerard Butler, Jeremy Piven, Thandie Newton, Tom Wilkinson, Idris Elba, Mark Strong, Gemma Arterton, Ludacris, and so on.

You can see the trailer for RocknRolla at Empire [Flash] through Quiet Earth.

Is Ritchie going to pull this one off?

It looks like much of the same, maybe a little bit darker, but much of the same. I'd still watch it though, he may be repetitive but at least he knows what he's good at.

Well that's true Louise. If you are good at something then why change? At least he's not saturating the market with the same film again and again and boring us all to death.

Saying that though, the films he has on the slate look interesting, and moving away from the London gangster film.

Yeah, should be interesting to see what he does outside the gangster genre. He directed a Nike TV ad recently, and crikey it's good. Not a gangster in sight. Although there are a few criminal divers.
