The Duchess trailer

KeiraKnightley.jpgThe international trailer for The Duchess is online. It has a pretty good British cast including Keira Knightley, Ralph Fiennes and Charlotte Rampling.

The films tells the story of the Duchess of Devonshire, and has all the usual scandals you would expect from the time period. If period dramas are your thing, head inside.

The trailer for The Duchess is below, with Keira Knightley as the woman herself. And they have ever so subtley made reference to the family link with Princess Diana. Not sure what the point of that is, maybe to distract us from the fact that it looks like just another period drama? Take a look and see what you think. The trailer comes from You Tube, through Rope of Silicon.

Again, it did nothing for me. Nothing. I am beginning to get really tired of Keira Knightley now.

Yeah me too. I wish she's do something different. Or nothing at all for a while.

I am ON for the nothing at all for a while option, Louise. There are a lot of much more talented British actresses though they may be not as strikingly attractive as Miss Knightley but they really have acting chops to boot apart from pouting lips and looking surprised.

Why don't we have her doing cameos instead? I say we throw he in the new Punisher film & shoot her down with Uzis ..

What? Why are you all looking at me surprised?? :-P

You bet we're surprised!

Really ram, you don't get that warm fuzzy feeling at all for Ms. Knightley?

Harsh, yet fair Ram!

I feel a feature coming on, nasty predicaments we'd like to put her in...Any Final Destination film perhaps?

Might be interesting, and rejuvenate interest in her as an actress, if she turned to some strange role like a Punisher one, try another Domino type role perhaps, and drop this costume girly persona.

She looks lovely.. I'm not disputing that, but I'm fed up of seeing her all barby doll like, wearing those corsets & acting the damsel in some period drama, I've been saying this since the first Pirates film, I might add.

This is one of the reasons I didn't even watch Atonement which was supposed to be pretty damned good. So it's reached that stage where even a trailer of yet another such film is enough for me to want her career dead. I just hate the idea that she's cashing in a cheque for the same product over & over.

Domino was crap, but I didn't mind her in it. I respected that she tried. I think she could redeem herself if she showed up in Punisher / Sin City 2 or some suchlike. I'd be quite impressed with something like that, but deep down I don't think she's got it in her to step out of this comfort zone.

So yea, final destination it is.

Had another thought ... throw her in a Tim Burton film. I think that'd be just the makeover she needs :D
