Kinky Boots for Broadway

KinkyBoots.jpgWe might complain about Hollywood remaking films, but are we soon to start complaining about Broadway doing the same? It seems the film Kinky Boots is going to be the next film to make it to the big stage.

The Broadway producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig are going to turn the film into a fully fledged musical.

Kinky Boots, which was released in 2006, does feature some musical moments, but nothing akin to a full stage musical, so there'll be a lot of rewriting to come. According to Reuters through Yahoo News that's not the only change they want to make.

The original was more comedy than anything, for the Broadway musical version they want to concentrate more on the emotional issues in the story saying that it's really about relationships and that they want to get to the heart of the story.

It seems to be a growing trend to look to Hollywood to bring to Broadway, but is it as much of a deal as Hollywood looking to its own work for everything-quels? There does seem to be a growing trend. Next, Matrix: The Musical. You know, actually…
