Leterrier on Clash of the Titans remake
Louis Leterrier has been talking about his plans for the remake of Clash of the Titans and how he got the gig, and I have to say I'm impressed, it could just be that his film might be looking to the right direction.
The video interview has him talking about pushing for the role of director and then he hints at a few ideas behind the film, revealing that he's going to bring back what was great, but also to tackle what wasn't tackled in the first film.
In the interview he says that the first Clash of the Titans film had no Clash and no Titans, and if you think about that he's more or less right. Sure there were set pieces against some amazing creatures, but there were not really Titans clashing together on screen.
Of course you could read some negativity into that and suggest that he's planning some huge fight and action sequences for the new Clash of the Titans, and considering what we've seen to date that could be a huge mistake for the film. However, hold up and have a think.
First look at what he did with The Incredible Hulk (Filmstalker review) film, there he was more or less remaking a film already made, and he did a great job there. Then listen to the rest of the interview and there are some surprises there too.
He wants to pay homage to Ray Harryhausen, the Kraken will feature in the film, and he really loves the original.
You know what, he's starting to win me over. You can see the interview, in French with English subtitles, over at EcranLarge.com through Coming Soon.
