Update: The Spirit trailer online in HD

TheSpirit_Poster.jpgI'm guessing this teaser trailer for The Spirit wasn't supposed to be online, but it is and you can see it right here.

Will Eisner's comic has been adapted for the big screen by Frank Miller who has also directed the film and given it a unique look and feel. Yes it is reminiscent of Sin City in look and feel, but we're hoping for something a little different.

I think already from looking at this trailer you can see that there's something more to it. The character introductions are great and the strong female characters look to be very enjoyable.

Yet I'm not sure if we get enough of what the Spirit actually is from this, and if the average audience member would look at this and think "ah yes, I'm interested in that story".

At the moment someone who doesn't know what The Spirit is about is going to make the obvious comparisons with Sin City (Filmstalker review) and then think of the sexy females and a cool Samuel L. Jackson, and that's it. There's no real sense of the story of the Spirit.

Have a look and see what you think, is this one for the knowledgeable fans? I think there has to be one coming that'll tell us more of The Spirit.

Update: 16/07/2008 A quick updated, the trailer is now available in high definition over at Yahoo Movies [Flash:480p:720p:1080p] found through Latino Review.
