Weaver says yes to Alien sequel
Sigourney Weaver is saying that she'd definitely appear in another Aliens film should the film have another director like Ridley Scott and a great script, and she goes onto reveal that Ridley Scott is also enthusiastic about the idea.
I'd love the idea of another Aliens film, but it has to be with Weaver and it absolutely has to be a strong story, and without any Predators I'm afraid. They're great on their own, but not together.
"I would definitely do another if I had a director like Ridley Scott and we had a good idea..."
...and the killer comment for me is...
"Ridley is enthusiastic about it."
Wow. He's actually enthusiastic? Now that really is interesting, and I haven't really heard that before.
MrDisgusting over at Bloody Disgusting, who got the story from OK! Magazine, has most of his readers coming in and saying "old story", "she always says this", and so on, and yet it seems as though this is a definite shift in the standing for both Scott and Weaver.
For the best example of why, look at this story from Filmstalker back in April where she does say it's over.
"The last time [Ridley and I] saw each other we talked about it. The character is still interesting [and] I'd love to work with Ridley again...But Fox has effectively killed it because of 'Alien vs. Predator.' What else can you do with the creature? You can take the situation, you can go back to where they came from...
...To play someone who ages a couple hundred years was fascinating," she added. "[But] let [Ripley] rest."
Now that does not sound like a comment where she is saying she wants to do it again. Sure she starts off saying that they'd talked about it, but "effectively killed it" and "let [Ripley] rest" are pretty firm in my mind, so that's what makes this current comment so interesting. Give MrD a break there, I agree, it's an interesting comment.
However, how on Earth, or in space, could they possibly get a story out of it now?
