X-Files: I Want to Believe sex scene

XFiles2.jpgI'd been reading more and more about David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson talking about the real core of what the new X-Files film is all about, them. The more I read the more they're talking about the relationship between the two leads and the big closing scene.

Well now we're hearing something else about X-Files: I Want to Believe, and while you might already have guessed what it might be, I'll warn you this could be a spoiler...but I doubt it really is.

David Duchovny has been talking about the film and one scene in particular that had him worried what his wife, Téa Leoni, might think of it. It's the sex scene.

When I first read that over at Digital Spy I thought that he might be having sex with some other character, but actually the story is about Mulder and Scully getting down and dirty together.

It's funny that the marketing has now turned to the relationship between the two characters and the ongoing "hope they do it" feeling, something that I really couldn't give two hoots about to be honest, but I know there will be loads of X-Files fans out there screaming at their computer screen right now.

Okay, I do find it an interesting aspect of the story and it adds a little tension between the characters that you can feel as an audience member, but it's not an integral part of the story...or maybe it is? Perhaps I've just got out of touch with X-Files, perhaps no one is interested in the big alien conspiracy story anymore and it is all about the episodic monster show with Mulder and Scully almost kissing/having sex but not.

Sounds like a bad television show to me...which is probably why I stopped watching. It also sounds like The X-Files: I Want to Believe is going to deliver just that.

There, uh, was no sex scene in the film. At all.

Damn, false info to get us all watching? After all we all want to see them get together, that's the whole crux of X-Files...I don't think so.

X-Files was very good when the relationship between Mulder and Scully was all implied.
